Hulunbuir is a region located in the northeast of Inner Mongolia, Peoples Republic of China. Its administrative center is Hailar, the largest urban area in the region. Hulunbuir has a total area of 263,000 square kilometers, making it "the world's largest area of land under the jurisdiction of a regional city”. Hulunbuir is a border zone between 3 countries. Climate: The city proper of Hulunbuir itself (Hailar) has a humid continental climate bordering on a subarctic climate , although the northern part of the prefecture-level city is solidly subarctic. Winters are long, very dry and severe, due to the semi−permanent Siberian High, while summers are short, though very warm, and rather wet, due to the East Asian monsoon. There is a wide range of temperature within one day and there can be very big difference between day and night temperature.
